Homophobia? Blame the Show, Not the Voters
I have gotten alerts for this woman's blog before and she's always an interesting read. This one touches on many of the Idol issues we've discussed here. Excellent read.

RE: Homophobia? Blame the Show, Not the Voters
Interesting points raised about the pimping and trying to control the outcome of the show.
But to be honest, I don't see the AI producers as Homophobic when they praised/pimped Adam throughout the show. the little I watched the show this season - it seemed the judges / producers had Adam as a favorite to win.

RE: Homophobia? Blame the Show, Not the Voters
The perpetuation of the gay stereotype is what she's calling them out on, and I think that perpetuation is in itself a form of homophobia. They did want him to win, but I think they used the fact that he may be gay to promote him. Paula wanted a gay idol this season. Gay issues are "trendy" right now, so it makes sense that these savvy promoters would take advantage of Adam Lambert walking into their auditions.

RE: Homophobia? Blame the Show, Not the Voters
I read all of her blogs yesterday regarding American Idol, and found them to be very interesting, and from a different perspective...
I think I will be reading more of her in the near future! |
