I was a Katpee fan at the very beginning of Idol, but never after. But I have to say, I watched "Smash" and I liked it. Again, I am NOT a Katpee fan, but dudes, she's really good in this show. Just putting that out there. I'll be the minority.

No need to be careful about that stuff here at THR. Personally I don't understand why some Idol fans think a success for a previous contestant somehow takes away the successes of their favorite.I think I recall both her and Ace did some acting before Idol Season 5. I'm happy Kat got this show, Good for her. I haven't seen it because I was busy with work and stuff. Now I am in Puerto Rico and have no TV, so it will be a while before I can try to watch it.

If you think about it, the more Idols that are successful, the more it calls attention to all Idol alumni I watched the first episode and I was kind of bored. Kat was one of the best ones in it. Debra Messing was disappointing, but I think it's because somehow you always want her to be Grace Adler no matter what role she's playing For me, it's a watch when I'm bored type of show. Joe loved it, but he tends to like theatrical stuff more than I do (go figure)...
put butter in between his thighs and he will slide right through the door

I watched it and did enjoy the show. Kat's voice is still beautiful. I love that Taylor got some attention and was quoted about something another American Idol contestant did. I think deep down even the idiots who made him the AI whipping boy are fascinated by him and his music.

Mama McPhee is a vocal coach on Idol this season.

RE: Katherine McPhee's Show, SMASH
Caught about 20 minutes of this show after watching The Voice the other night. I thought Kat was very, very flat as an actress. The other people in the show were much more dynamic. I read that the ratings have declined each episode.
