'American Idol' fantasy smackdown - 1/14/12

Quote:One of the best ideas to revive "American Idol" ratings, before producers decided to draft Jennifer Lopez and Steven Tyler, was to have a season of "Idol All-Stars," with previous winners returning to compete against each other. That was scrapped, reportedly the result of lack of interest from the more successful winners. But what if it actually happened?

Here's how we think the first 10 winners would rank:

9. Taylor Hicks His larger-than-life persona and big, unusual voice made him unique, if not necessarily popular.

I think the phrased it wrong. Taylor was widely popular when on the show. He was never in the bottom 2.

Issue is that popularity didn't translate to "popular on the radio" or huge numbers of CD sales.

If they ever did that show there's no way Taylor would end up second to last. As much as I would have loved to watch a show like that, I'm glad they didn't do it. The fan wars it would ignite would be horrific! Fear

put butter in between his thighs and he will slide right through the door Haha

Nothing good could come of a show like that. Silly idea.

Now I can't wait for Taylor to move to Nashville-B'ham-NYC-LA-Orange Beach-East Bumblefuck in June-Aug-Sept-Dec and work on his roots-americana-jazz-rock-blues-country-soul-rap-jackson browne-elvis album, so that we can listen to it in Jan-March-May 2012! - Freebird

Interesting idea, but I think it would be a big bomb... now if they would have past winners come back as guest judges, that would be a different kettle of fish.....

I've always wanted that to happen! People would love former Idols as guest judges and mentors!
