What are you listening to?
Hey everyone, thought I'd start this thread for people to post music that you're listening to lately. Could be a favorite or something you've just discovered or anything in between. Drop in any time and post what's tickling your ears lately!
![]() I'll start -- this morning via an NPR blog, I discovered the Alabama Shakes. They have a really fabulous sound -- part retro soul, part gospel, part Janis Joplin. I remember reading about them on twitter recently but hadn't listened until today. I am hooked. Here is a link to their newest 4-song EP, available to listen on line. I've already listened to it twice! http://alabamashakes.bandcamp.com/ "It's all love...." -- Wynn Christian |

RE: What are you listening to?
Sitting listening to them right now myself after reading the NPR piece. Really enjoying it. Retro feel but so very 2000's!

RE: What are you listening to?
I've been so into the band Dawes lately. Taylor Goldsmith's voice just pulls me in, and they create word pictures with their lyrics that just make me drift away. I am so excited to be seeing them in concert on October 28th here in Boston!

RE: What are you listening to?
Great idea for a thread! Where is Dawes playing on the 28th? I've been listening to Dawes too, thanks to you
I haven't had much time to listen to or explore anything new. I listen to a lot of oldies on the Ipod-like to revisit the 70's. Jim Croce one of my favorites-would love to hear Taylor cover just about any of his songs! put butter in between his thighs and he will slide right through the door

RE: What are you listening to?
Liz, I remember listening to Jim Croce all the time when I was growing up. I can never hear his songs without thinking of the drive to the horse stables that we used to do every weekend with the AM radio on. He was taken way before his time. What are some of your favorite songs of his?
Dawes is playing with Blitzen Trapper on Friday October 28th at a club called The Royale. I've never been there before so it'll be interesting. If you feel like coming up and joining me I'd love it (though I know of course you have to consider your mom, etc). Tickets are still on sale at their website http://www.dawestheband.com/ "It's all love...." -- Wynn Christian |

RE: What are you listening to?
I've been listening to Dawes today too since I saw them last night! LOL The co-headlined show of Blitzen Trapper and Dawes is just fabulous. I'm so glad we made the trip over to Baton Rouge to see it.

RE: What are you listening to?
I've never heard that one Kathy -- is that a group or the name of a song? Sound intriguing

RE: What are you listening to?
I have been on a Paul Simon kick lately. Train in the distance is on now.. love that sound. I recently picked up the cd Les Paul and Friends A tribute to a Legend. Awesome. Slash has a cut on it called Vocalise that really showcases his talent. I would recommend this cd. Some others featured are Joe Bonamassa, Hiram Bullock, Joan Osborne, Johnny RZeznik, Richie Sambora and some others, Les Paul + friends has a track called 69 Freedom Special that is special. If you download -- Vocalise and 69 Freedom Special are two worth the money. No vocals, just amazing guitar skills.
