Taylor's musical musings
Hey everyone, thought I might start a thread based on the musical offerings that Taylor occasionally tweets. I love it when he does that because I either discover a new musician, a new performance by a musican that I already love, or a newfound appreciation of an artist that I haven't listened to in some time. I thought it might be fun to start posting these in one place, and have a place to talk about them if we feel like it.
He has tweeted quite a few musical offerings recently, from Bill Withers to Gillian Welch to Feist. This morning I opened my tweet stream and found the one he tweeted last night from Billy Preston. Now I'm not a religious person by any means, but boy, did I ever get taken to church on this one!! I love the stark contrast between Billy dancing all over the stage and George Harrison standing so quietly behind him all dressed in white.... RE: Taylor's musical musings
Oh my gosh, I love that performance by Billy Preston! I have that DVD, it was George Harrison's concert for relief for Bangladesh. George was the very first musician to organize a benefit concert to help people facing adversity.
From Wikipedia: The Concert for Bangladesh was a pioneering charity event, preceding Live Aid by 14 years. It won the Grammy Award for Album of the Year. What I really love about Billy Preston is his joy when performing. He just can't contain the joy.....reminds me of a certain silver-haired musician.

RE: Taylor's musical musings
Already on my ipod. I will not be held responsible for the funky steps I throw down on my afternoon walk.
Great idea, Linda!! Now I can't wait for Taylor to move to Nashville-B'ham-NYC-LA-Orange Beach-East Bumblefuck in June-Aug-Sept-Dec and work on his roots-americana-jazz-rock-blues-country-soul-rap-jackson browne-elvis album, so that we can listen to it in Jan-March-May 2012! - Freebird |

RE: Taylor's musical musings
I finally got a chance to watch "That's the Way God Planned It" and I am filled with this spirit on this gorgeous Saturday morning! What a great song and what a great performance. Billy Preston has never gotten the attention he deserved. He was a great songwriter and performer!
