I laughed at Simon declaring Taylor was "judgeproof".

I also agree Taylor can be lost in his own thoughts...

I think his eye on the prize comment and not being there to make friends pretty much says it all - single focused, living in his head.

RE: American Idol the Untold Story
This is so cool -- thanks for sharing with us! I don't think any of these people's comments are too far from the truth either. I'm sure he can seem arrogant and stand-offish. Many people complained about his behavior at the AI meet and greets. I do think he's matured a lot since then in terms of interacting with fans.

Good for him that he had a plan! Chalk one up for a little age and experience to go and win it all! Smile

Judgeproof Thumbup

I don't think I'd agree with this one at all "I think he knew he wasn't a great singer"

I think Taylor has an off/on switch. When he's on he's 100% and in the moment, fan pleasing, acting how he needs to to pull off whatever the current job is, following a strategy, etc. When he's off he wants to be left to his own devices and is more in his head, tuning out the stuff around him. Thing is he controls the switch, and that's why people get put off IMO
I love it that he doesn't feel obligated to kiss everyone's ass all the time Thumbup

Seems like an interesting book-thanks for sharing Huggy

put butter in between his thighs and he will slide right through the door Haha

I don't get why people say things like that. If Debbie Williams is any kind of a judge of voices then she has to know hes a good singer.
And not for a minute do I believe that Taylor doesn't know hes a good singer. He knows he can do things with that voice that many only dream of. People just talk out their ass just to try and sound interesting. Get Lost

Soultime, I'll go out on a limb here and say I do not think Debbie was slamming Taylor. She used the word 'great' not good.

Taylor himself has said he is not the best singer. In an interview right after AI5 he also said he was glad he couldn't use an instrument because he would have relied on it ( referencing his harmonica). Taylor said AI5 made him focus on his voice and improve upon it.

I think Debbie's comments show Taylor was always thinking about the overall performance and experience for the viewer. Which to me is a compliment.

Denise, I was going to say the same thing. He also knew he needed to do other things to best the voices in the group. Taylor's voice had great character, it was not a trained voice like Kat, or technically strong like Elliott's. I do have to say though, I liked Taylor's voice before he got some training. JMO. Though, the vocal on 25 Miles from Jam Cruise. Thud
