Spoonful James - Broke in Alabama
Recorded this summer when Spoonful James was recording their new album due out Winter 2010.

That's funny I just came across this today too. I listened to SJ for about 4 hours today on my (new to me) iPod while running errands and cooking. I was looking up YT videos afterward and saw "Broke In Alabama." Love the song! There is a previous similar video called Atchafalaya also from their upcoming new album. If you have not heard them, the Workplay 2003 set is incredible! The tapes from the concert at Smith's in August, when they opened for Taylor, are really great too. (That was acoustic with just Wynn and Quinn.)

Most of us have heard and known about SJ for years since following Taylor. I've heard practically everything they've done that's out there. Not too much gets by us! They are damn good!!!

Came across it over the weekend. Went back to it yesterday and played it again and thought I should let my girls here at THR know about it. Planned to post Atchafalaya too but got distracted. Haha Have had those guys on my computer for quite a while. Can't wait for their new CD.

I did not follow Taylor after AI. Not actively anyway. Only in March of 2009 did I started looking up videos on YouTube. Some of the first I found and loved were of him with Spoonful James. I was really excited to see Wynn & Quinn's acoustic show with Taylor in Atlanta in August! Other than seeing a couple of the vids, I had not heard that WP '03 set until yesterday. It's fabulous. I hope they will do a show near me this year.

I love SJ musicianship and lyrics. However, I just can't wrap my ears around Winn's whiny voice. Sorry.

Now I can't wait for Taylor to move to Nashville-B'ham-NYC-LA-Orange Beach-East Bumblefuck in June-Aug-Sept-Dec and work on his roots-americana-jazz-rock-blues-country-soul-rap-jackson browne-elvis album, so that we can listen to it in Jan-March-May 2012! - Freebird

I have to admit Wynn's voice isn't the strongest and I wonder if this has held them back from really taking off. The music is brilliant though and the lyrics; I agree with you there.

I was thinking the same thing over the weekend. I don't mind Wynn's voice, but I do think if there was a stronger lead they'd be kicking ass.
